Another W for The Dogfather, Daniel Kilcannon. Darcy Kilcannon is the youngest of 6 who has decided that it is time for her to move forward with her life. Darcy is funny, smart, loving, and has a beautiful heart. She wants to expand her dog grooming business from just being at the family farm, Waterford Farms (largest dog training/rescue facility in the state) to an independent location within her hometown of Bitter Bark. Darcy also wants to live on her own as well. Of course Daniel has the perfect location for her to live because the landlord is a great guy(do you smell setup?). All of Daniel's kids believe he plays a huge role in setting them up with the love of their lives. Daniel absolutely denies this every chance he gets. Joshua Ranier, has lost at love and family. Joshua is sexy, smart, handsome with a heart of gold. Joshua lost his father as a young boy and has never been able to forgive his father for "leaving him" or his mother for remarrying into a very wealthy family who does not like him at all. Joshua moves to Bitter Bark to embark on growing his business of flipping properties. Darcy finds that there is one flaw (pretty big one) in Joshua....he does not allow dogs in his property rentals. What's a girl to do? Sneak your dog (Kookie) in in your purse!! From the moment Darcy moves in she begins to show Joshua how families should be. Loving, caring, supportive, have your back, and so much more. Joshua ends up taking care of the dog that he gave his ex, only to discover that Stella (the dog) is blind. Together Josh and Darcy with the help of Daniel enroll Stella in an experimental procedure to cure her blindness(SARDS). Kookie and Stella are super cute dogs that you will absolutely fall in love with. No spoilers here. So if you want to know if Darcy and Josh find love and if Stella sees again you will just have to get Double Dog Dare. Roxanne St. Claire writes a beautiful story with heart, strong characters, family love, and showcases a new breed of dog in each one of The Dogfather books. Characters from previous books make an appearance to help you catch up on their lives. This is a stand alone and you do not have to have read the previous books to understand the story. I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review. 5 stars*****

Darcy really, really doesn’t want a relationship...

Josh is dead set against a relationship, ever again. But isn’t that when you find the perfect person. The Kilcannon family plays a big part in this sweet falling in love story. Of course they have to support Darcy even if she does want to stand on her own. I love this tight knit family and the this author’s storytelling captures my heart every time. A wonderful tale, smile, sigh.

In the end, Double Dog Dare was a fun read for any occasion, but I loved seeing Darcy and Josh as they came together in a time of crisis to solve problems, and also in down times to just be together in calm. The true test of workability for a relationship might be working well together under pressure, but I think the stamina of a relationship can only be shown by how a couple functions when they are simply two people, alone together with nothing to do. Darcy has finally found her niche in life and luckily has the support of her family in order to build it right there close by, giving her that strongest of root systems. But with those strong roots she has the chance to grow to outrageous heights and widths. Josh too has found his forever home, including the family he wants to claim as his, and the woman to make his life full and completed, and he will not let anything from his past jeopardize that chance. I loved every minute of this story, even the few tears and moments where I was on the edge of my seat, and I was thrilled with the glimpses into the Dogfather’s past success and his present challenge of keeping his children out of HIS personal life. The chemistry and connection between Darcy and Josh is apparent from moment one and those two, though putting up a good fight, were always destined to fall under Cupid’s arrows. I loved this story and cannot wait for whoever’s story comes next, including the rumors of a Christmas novella about the family which I would not snub my nose at personally. Another masterpiece Rocki, thanks for the chance to get my hands on it a little early!

The Dogfather is at it again - or is he?
This is a fun story that pulls you in. The characters - human and canine - are well-developed and tug at your heartstrings.
A great read!

Not sure how I feel about the next book being the Dad's book... I think he should be left alone. That's just me, though. I did greatly enjoy this book, though having the wrong dog breed on this cover is driving me nuts. :P

Page turner

Short and sweet, not the book but my review. This one has more turns than a mountain road, and some mysterious events to solve. A lovely way to watch the last Kilcannon sibling fall in love!

A lovely romance that began with two people definitely *not* looking for love–who also started things off in a very rocky way–Double Dog Dare had me laughing, sighing happily and shedding some tears before it was all said and done.

Oh, those Kilcannons! What a wonderful bunch of people they have all turned out to be. And youngest sibling Darcy was definitely just as caring, determined, and smart as the rest of the family. I loved finally getting to really know her and to watch as she struck out on her own path, albeit still in Bitter Bark, but getting her own place and setting up an independent business from Waterford Farm.
