What the bloody hell did I just read: I'm actually gobsmacked and if the first book was a hit for me this one for me knocked it clean out of the water.
I have literally pulled an all-nighter here: the plan was to read till 20% then get some shut-eye.
Well nope, that sure didn't play out the way I intended as I just couldn't put this addictive and enthralling tale down: I was like just one more page and before I knew it morning had arrived.
I am now absolutely bogeyed and running on pure coffee fumes but need to get my thoughts down on here so I can start the third instalment.

So this was, in my opinion, a sensational addition to this series and I felt like I was on a runaway train with no idea where I was heading to: this was absolutely explosive and volatile but also sweet, decadent and dirty and as Pascal slowly unravelled I was agog with trepidation and a sense of deep dread. I was unable to stop myself from watching in shocked disbelief

Also, Alexander really came into his own in regards to his support of Lilah and I was loving the protective but still intensely sadistic vibe he was giving off in spades.
I really got the impression he actually cared about Lilah as an individual and not just as an extension of his care of Pascal's wellbeing: he seemed so committed and invested in her eventual success.
There was an awful lot going on here in terms of plot direction but this honestly didn't play out how I thought it would: my original anticipation was surpassed and Eden's Gate (The VDB Trilogy, #2) for me raised the bar.
So if I thought book One was a kinkfest this was way beyond that by far and every deviant and filthy thought and action used by this gentleman sadist sunk me deeper into this depraved and decadent lifestyle and when Pascal started to implode internally I wept inside as I watched him practically poison all around him in his self imposed isolation.
Pascal is on a path of self-destruction and Lilah is standing in the eye of his storm.
I just hope he can claw himself back from the abyss he seems to be straddling.
Loved the finale, loved the characters and boy did I love that sexy bloody Bat cane

In fact, I don't think there was anything I disliked here at all which doesn't happen to me that often. I usually have some little moan or niggle but nope all here for me was so fine indeed.
So this is sensual and sultry, dirty and deep and a series that I highly recommend if you like your fiction on the dark and edgy side You don't need to read The White Trilogy to fully appreciate this but it will most certainly add to your overall enjoyment and help you to better understand the character dynamics here.
You do need to start this journey with The Parlour (The VDB Trilogy #1) though that is an absolute must.
Off to devour the next part folks I will be up for air whenever I can manage to drag myself away.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Eden's Gate (The VDB Trilogy, #2).
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
