This is a book I’ll be thinking about for a while. It said a lot of what I’ve thought on this topic for a long time and I’m grateful it was written and that it was written in this way.
To never use the defendant’s name was the best choice. To give names and voices to the women that have consistently been ignored in all of this, an even better one.

I think this book should be required reading. I normally read cozy fantasy, so this was way outside my normal reading. And yet it was amazing and felt so important. Serial killers are glorified at the expense of their victims and to cover up the failings of various law enforcement. They are described as genius though they are not. They are described as clever and fascinating though they are pathetic. I will always recommend this book and what it demonstrates.

This book will live in my mind for the rest of my existence. Make no mistake that this book is heavy, but it is necessary. This is the way I have been waiting to hear true crime discussed since I was a teenager and I think a part of me was healed to know that the victims were finally centers in someone’s narrative of any event.
