Very adult, but some interesting world building. It left off on a good cliff hanger. I may look for the next volume to see where it goes.

Wow. That was a crazy and unexpected ride, but in a good way. I had no background on this series before going into it and honestly I’m kind of glad I didn’t, I don’t know that I’d have borrowed it if I had. But if you want one here is just a glancing view at some themes you’ll find in Unnatural:
Authoritarian government that makes your love life their business and finable by law if you don’t choose ‘the natural way’. Folkloric rituals/past lives. Skeevy dudes written so accurately I cringed in real life. Betrayal, mystery.
If you couldn’t tell by the cover there is also cartoon nudity/sexual situations so if that bothers you it’s best to skip this one.
I think I will be borrowing the second volume soon!

Heard about this graphic novel for a while now so I decided to check it out. Definitely a sexy story but with some interesting elements to it. I liked the commentary on interracial and lgbtq+ relationships. I also found the murder mystery and alternate lifetime storyline intriguing. Will probably continue the series in the future to find out what happens to the main character.

Wouldn't be Pride without a heavy-handed metaphor for marriage equality, right? But no, I liked the book, it just smacks you over the head a bit with it's "THIS IS THE HANDMAIDS TALE BUT WITH ANIMALS" vibes
