So I read The Guest List a while ago and absolutely loved it! I guess I had high hopes when I started The Hunting Party. I really enjoyed it, but it didn’t have that “omg wow” factor for me. It’s set at this beautiful lodge in the middle of nowhere surrounded by snow, and someone gets murdered. I would have liked to read more about the landscape and area, but there was a lot of indoor, party time. Definitely a good thriller, but not my fave from Lucy Foley.

I give this book 3.25 stars. I absolutely loved The Guest List, so was extremely looking forward to The Hunting Party. I guessed/foresaw quite a lot of things correctly, which isn’t a bad thing, as there were enough slow revelations and red herrings that kept me quite interested. Guest List is better, but this was still a good read. The one thing I didn’t understand was Doug’s chapters being told in third person, while all the others were first person. Could have done without that. Why not keep them all the same? *shrug*

Do you know that movie Something Borrowed? Yeah, it's like that but with murder in it.

I liked this! I'm interested in reading the Guest List because I've heard it's similar.

I like the multiple perspectives, even if i didn't like all the characters. I called one part of the mystery (
that it's Julien's baby
) but didn't know the end, which was fun!

Lots of similarities with Foley's The Guest List, both are set in remote locations, reunions of groups of people. I was able to predict where the story was going in this book a bit, specifically who is killed and who is the killer. Still very consumable and enjoyable book.

extremely captivating around 150 pages in!

this was extremely well written from a plot perspective , every aspect seamlessly tying in at the end, with enough twists and turns to really surprise me!

my only complaint is this heavily literal style of quotations and communication between characters , those perhaps that is more reflective of  lucy foleys’ writing or the murder mystery style at large.

especially at the end, this book is reminiscent of a Nancy Drew mystery.
