Roadtrip btchs!

Michael gets an offer to go to Dallas and record a demo CD after a local concert one night. But wait, no one leaves Morganville…

Meanwhile Morley starts making his moves against Shane and Eve bc of their deal from the last book to escape the tunnel alive.

So Claire goes to Amelie to ask about passes out of town… this wasn’t real clear to me; I think she was trying to get Morley and his associates out, but instead she’s given 4 passes, with their names printed on them which isn’t enough anyway (but is for Claire Shane Eve and Michael of course). And their escort. Who is their escort you may ask? Bum bum bum…. Oliver of course.

They head out of MV and Oliver mentions a pit stop he must make, but not way. And that’s where everything begins to go wrong. Hassled for trying to get ice cream, Eve’s car is burned, Claire Shane and Eve  are arrested for murder… while hanging out in jail waiting to be saved, some vamps do bust in. Just not their vamps. And the downhill slide continues.

So you’re got murder, kidnapping, daring escapes, rogue vampires made by Bishop before he shot his shot, unlikely alliances, etc.

Rachel Caine is a wonderful writer. This can’t top The Great Library for me, but it’s solid and damn good. Each book builds upon the previous ones. The characters are genuine and mostly lovable. Even the “bad guys” have their moments. And though the books are short (which I typically steer clear of), they seem to hold a lot of content.

Kiss of Death is the 8th book in the Morganville Vampire series, and in my opinion, one of the best young adult vampire series there is. I am a HUGE fan of this series and this author rarely disappoints me.

In this installment, Michael gets recruited to make a demo in Dallas, Texas. The gang is excited when they are actually granted passes to leave Morganville for a short time and help support Michael in his new career path. The only downside is having Oliver as and escort. Along the way, they deal with AWOL vampires, diseased vampires, crazy locals and enough excitement to keep you reading non-stop!

While I was disappointed in not seeing and hearing from my favorite characters as much, we still get the action packed romance that this author delivers effortlessly! I love how each chapter is a practically another drama packed adventure and how it gives the characters barely enough time to breath. The romance between Shane and Claire was very sweet. We finally get to see what Shane was going to give Claire in the previous books and it just squeezes your heart with emotions. The romance between Eve and Michael is just as sweet, showing the devotion each character has to their relationships. My favorite thing with this series though, is the witty humor and laugh out loud dialogue the author brings to each book. You are always guaranteed bickering, humor and drama, but you are also guaranteed friendship, love and the feeling of family between them all. Even Oliver showed a new side to himself in this book. I might actually start to like him more now.

This is one series where I wish the author would write faster and give me my Morganville addiction fix quicker! The vampire world in these books are like my own brand of drug that should be illegal to bookworms!

“My dad used to say that life's a journey, but somebody screwed up and lost the map.”

So I have no idea if I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, didn't have enough coffee, or I'm super annoyed at the people who decided that 6am was a fantastic time to cut down a tree outside my house but long story short these characters just annoyed me for most of the book. I feel like this series is just going to be meh now for me. I mean everything has been pretty consistent lately and I either like or dislike everyone. I'm glad that Claire went from annoying as fuck to someone I could tolerate during small moments throughout the book. They all get in trouble or put themselves in dangerous situations throughout the book which doesn't surprise me one bit. I'm hoping the next book will be better or at least keep my interest. Maybe? Hopefully? Please?

This was one of my favorite Morganville Vampire books! I love Shane to bits and think that he is such a great and dynamic character. Actually, I love the four main characters. I liked how they were out of Morganville for this one and I can't wait for the next!

Claire and the gang have just been offered the opportunity to leave Morganville, with Oliver escorting, when Michael is asked to go to Dallas to make a CD. However things don’t run smoothly as Oliver is on a mission from Amelie which is a danger to all of them. Claire has grown up so much in these eight books as she so much more confident and assertive than the girl in Glass Houses. While I love this book I miss Morganville and the characters such as Monica and Myrnin. I would recommend this series to people who like YA supernatural books.

Wow new vampires in another location besides Morganville. Of course, the first time Shane and Eve get to go outside it they run into them.
