This book explores the artistic frustration and absurdity of early motherhood. Mothertongues is not a memoir but a collection of musings, vignettes and creative explorations on motherhood, women in history and creative pursuits.
It’s absurdist, political, packed with historical and cultural references.
Some of the ideas and moments of motherhood were so damn relatable. Others opened my eyes to the way society, our history and culture impacted some of my experiences of early motherhood. And others were just completely out-of-the-box playful tales and excerpts.
This is a collaborative work that can be tagged with a number of genre labels. It’s unlike anything I’ve read before & was a really great book to dip in and out of in between my fictional reads.
