my obsession with fairy tales makes this series totally up my alley. I also love origin stories. Not epic as far as books go but a great weekend read. exploring ideas of good/evil within all of us and of love - not just romantic but also those of family and friends.

Soman’s newest book is a jaw-dropper, despite being a little rushed. Not everything here was as fine-tuned as his original series, but the book he produced in about a year is absolutely splendid. Rhian’s reactions to the charismatic Vulcan and handsome Pirate Captain were adorable, and Rafal was strangely funny. I did also enjoy Aladdin, Marialena, and Hook’s characters, and Hook’s bond with Rafal was very emotionally satisfying. The ending, though, that was what I was waiting for, and damn, did Soman deliver. He managed to turn the ending into a cliffhanger and a not-cliffhanger all at once. I’m on pins and needles waiting for the next book.
