Wow!! That was an unexpected wild book. Read it fast, still processing everything. I'm so glad the next book will be out soon because I'm left hanging and wanting more answers.
Pretty graphic and gritty, but I was totally intrigued and wanted to know how everything and everyone tied together. Blown away at the end and still have questions. Can't wait for the next book

This book is twisted and for most parts very sick but...l loved it!!!!! l probably will have to read something mild to balance this out though, clear out the crazy.

First things first this book is not for the mild hearted and the conservative just saying. There is explicit sex scenes, swearing, torture and drug use. There is a boy and a girl and some romance but that is really subtle.

Now about the book,l liked it because:

1. The characters. l loved the characters Tyler is super nice a little gullible but still, Jae is my favourite character in this one l know his twisted and crazy but l loved him with Tyler the glimpse of them together really was just sweet.

2. l loved the writing in this book it could have easily turned trashy and grimace worthy but MM is a skilled writer and she pulled this of even with the explicit scenes.

Finally there is this thing that most people will agree with me this book has a way of pulling you in. It pulls you in a way you can't put it down. You may feel weird about reading it in public but you will read it no doubt.

The ending argh? WTH! can someone tell me what just happened in the epilogue the thing with the kid.

Someone just be a darling and explain this to me because l am hanging here (this authors are never content until they mess with our heads!!)anyway moving on->

So l liked this book, thumbs up but l will not be recommending it to any one l know anytime soon all my friends are too conservative.

WTF!?!?!?!

What the ever loving f@ck just happened!?!?!?

I seriously am so lost. Throughout the whole book you try piecing together random bits of information. If you are like me you were able to figure some of it out, but I guarantee at least one piece of information will blow your f@cking mind!

Well written and mind twistingly entertaining, Animal will keep you on edge with the suspense, the erotic fun, and the need for more screams.

I'm not sure who is more messed up in the head, Marni Mann for writing it or me for loving the hell out of it.

I've been mindf*cked. That epilogue was a huge curveball, something that I didn't expect AT ALL. I think this is one of the rare times that I was taken by surprise by an ending. WHAT THE. FU CK.

This book is unlike anything that I've read before. I'm not sure if I liked it or hated it but it definitely was entertaining, to an extent. It was definitely...something else. I'm still speechless.

If you read the blurb, you can't really figure out what to expect. After I read Prisoned and met Beard, the main character of this book, I couldn't wait to get my hands on his book. As soon as I got Animal, I knew some really dark and twisted things would go down. I love dark books with villains as main characters. And Beard fit that bill perfectly. In my opinion he isn't a good guy, but there are things that made him the way he is. The structure of this book was different, normally it wouldn't have worked for me but for this book it was perfect. It left you with question marks almost throughout the whole book. I had no idea what was going on in the beginning, however I am a pretty good predictor/investigator of secrets in books. So half-way through I had some theories and a couple of them were correct.

However Marni wouldn't be Marni if she didn't throw a couple of plot twists the readers way. There was so much dark and twisted things going on but there was also a lot of hot and dirty sex. The author did an amazing job with the characters. She made me feel a certain way about them, which made perfect sense at the end. There are two stories in one book but they are connected, and it is up to you to figure out what is going on. It was very creative and mysterious and I couldn't get enough. I was hooked from the start and I couldn't wait till I received the answers to all my questions. Marni has one crazy and twisted mind!! This book is NOT for the faint-hearted. If you want a good mind-fuck where nothing is as it seems then definitely read this book. Especially the ending had me saying WTF and OMG, Marni really knows how to end a book.

Ummmm...

I don’t even know what to say about this book. I was so confused the whole time and I’m hoping the second book clears things up. I can tell you, Animal is a must read! Loved it.

**Undecided on star rating--read to understand why**

I closed this book a few days ago and I’m still swirling in it. I’m not even sure if I can rate it because it was such an intensely crazy, but odd story. Dark, immersive, wild, raw…a twisty-turny mindfuck. Animal was written very well, that part I can tell you. Mann went into the dark in order to lure us in and she pulled that off incredibly well. I couldn’t bring myself to stop even if at times I wanted to look away. This is unlike any book I’ve ever read–in every shape and form. It’s meant to be sexy, but not in the typical way. Because, you see, this has two intersecting storylines that lead up to one event. Past and present swirl opposite one another until they come crashing in as one. But the fun lies in the journey to get there.

Mann captured the animal-like quality of Beard in a poignant way. He gives no excuses for his abnormal lifestyle and he couldn’t care less about it. The secretive, dark double life crosses into his sexual nature, and the wildness to his life never ends. But then we get Tyler, the unassuming and innocent young woman whose naivety makes her ripe for darkness to leach the innocence from. The way in which it was so easy for her to be drawn into it was fascinating to read, frustrations aside.

I’m still blown away by it. The story was crazy, the characters were palpable, and the fact that nothing is confirmed until the end made this book the kind that you can’t stop until you have answers. Because I still don’t know what to feel about it all, the rating floats between a 4, 4.5, and a 5. I’m literally torn. Did I enjoy it? Oddly, yes. Did I love the characters? Even though I never came to understand them, I found myself both liking and disliking them depending on the location in the story, so maybe love came into play at times. Did I love the crazy, twisty story? Yes. Did I enjoy the dark parts? No. Hello, conflicted is thy name.

It was erotic, but not sexy. It was dark, but had light. It was a mindfuck, but it was clear. Animal is the kind of story that must be experienced to be understood, and even then, maybe you won’t. The blurb is a bit misleading in some ways, but the overall gist remains the same. If you love how stories can fuck with you, this is the book for you. And even if you don’t read a lot of those kinds of stories, join me in taking a walk on the wild side.

Wow...

I really struggled at the beginning of this book. I didn't think I was going to like it, I couldn't understand how the characters fit in the story.....thank goodness I kept reading! What a story.....I am still trying to process and get over the shock. It turned into such a roller coaster and I don't want to get off the ride!! I'm going to buy the next book ASAP. Like....right now.

🌟🌟🌟🌟 STARS
So here is “Animal” in all its glory.
Where do I start with this so very different story. well here goes,
Beard is running an illegal prison in Venezuela with his two best friends.
It’s A place where they torture and kill, not just for the money involved, but also for the kicks too.
Beard himself has an obsession with the screams, he loves to listen to the cries of the tortured and the damned, it’s just his thing.
So as you have probably surmised from the above "Animal" is an extremely dark tale and you should probably be aware that the descriptions in this are very graphic and detailed.
So the majority of this tale we get to follow Beard around and experience his very graphic sex life.
I should also mention that there's a lot of girl on girl action, some menage scenes and also some drug use as well, just in case this bothers you.
The sex itself is also very down and dirty in language as well as detail and while this itself didn't bother me, the sheer amount of it did.
This is where Animal lost a star for me, I felt there was too much and I just didn't enjoy some of the encounters here, they felt a trifle off to me.
I actually in hindsight realised why I felt this way, It was quite obvious to me once I'd made the connection.
Surprisingly the prison itself didn't affect me that much, not because I don't have a heart and lack the ability to empathise, Just more because I tried to not visualise what was occurring there, I buried my head in the sand, so to speak, out of sight, out of mind and all that jetsam.
You Know, LA LA LA LA LA Fingers in ears that kind of stuff.
I am actually pretty much unshockable anyway as it takes a lot to disturb me and mess with my head. Probably the side effect of reading so much depravity.
So moving on , the other person’s head we get to play inside is a young college girl by the name of Tyler.
Ignored and taken for granted by her family, makes Tyler extremely vulnerable in her need for acceptance and love.
she is Easily Recruited by the Achurdy and her choices in life lead her down a dark path with only one end seemingly in her sights.
we are given a little taster of Tyler's utter despair in life and also in her death.
A snapshot into her head if you will.
So, What did I just read? And How darn Clever Was this folks? A Slow Stunned Clap from me, I'm so very impressed Marni, you rock girl.
Animal by Marni Mann was a complete an utter twisted-mind F@ck.
I know I had a slightly bemused expression on my face throughout.
And I was also, in a state of utter confusion for the majority of this story.
and Just when I thought I was getting somewhere, It was like BAM!!! here's another curve-ball for you, we don't want you getting too complacent girl.
With the final curtain closing on what was a massive Reveal, my first thought after the initial shock was, Ah, I get it now, everything kinda makes sense in a weird sort of freaky arse way.
Marni Mann after keeping me in a state of compete and utter perplexity throughout all of “Animal” has somehow managed to wrap this all up so prettily
Gathering together all the stray threads of this story and weaving them into a sort of gruesome testimony.
At least that's what I thought until Animal threw another DUH!!! moment at me, (I'm rolling my eyes here people.)
I knew it was to good to be true,
Back to trying to find my way out of the dark, sigh.
Animal is like being lost in a maze with no exit anywhere at all.
So where were we, 0h yes, I guess this story hasn't quite finished unfolding yet. I for one can't wait till act two commences.

So just a footnote,
I originally after finishing "Animal" rated this a three and a half.
I decided to sleep on it before I put pen to paper
As I could not get this out of my head, and for that reason alone I've upped this to a four, as this is not a read I will forget in a hurry and it doesn’t really matter if that’s for the right or the wrong reasons it’s stuck in my head now so it’ a definite score.
