As with most books that stay on my currently reading shelf for a long time, it's not that the book actually took me awhile to read it's that I got to the last 20ish pages and didn't want it to end.
This is a great book to completely read through once then use for reference. I have a lot of the short stories in other forms that I don't want to annotate so I used this as a way to write notes and mark my favorite stores so I can go back to them easily.
I think this book is a great investment for anyone that is a fan of Neil Gaiman, it's a great way to read a bunch of short stories that may not have gone into Trigger Warning or Smoke and Mirrors, and it has some experts from his books that are a fun little reminder of how amazing those books are.

A great book especially if you are a Neil Gaiman fan. It is like a best-of album but, clearly, the stories were picked with great care and placed in a thoughtful order. I highly recommend it.

Yes this was a little bit of a lot of different stories Neil Gaiman made and I think it was a good pick. All the stories were different, yet there was certain quality or let´s say weirdness that is typical for him. I enjoyed myself, but his stories are not for everyone. Some thing were weirdly disgusting, some were really interesting, some were a bit of both. I really like the way he builds fantasy so effortlessly without it feeling like he is telling us, rather he is showing us already established world. If you are like me and only dabbled in Neil Gaiman´s work, this is a good way to get yourself acquaintanced.

Love Neil Gaiman! This was a terrific retrospective of his work. The fact that he narrates most of it was a selling point for me. Nothing from the Sandman universe, though. I thought that could have been part of it. But a little of almost everything else. Wonderful!

I was slogging through this and DNF. Everything was just too vague for me and I wasn't very interested.

I love Neil Gaiman's writing, and this volume of short stories really highlights the wide range of styles Gaiman is capable of. From fantasy to science fiction, from children's stories to adult, this book ranges through his writing, and is a book to savour. It took me five months to read (it was a Christmas present) as I was savouring each story and didn't want them to finish.

As always, Neil Gaiman is a master storyteller. This anthology of short stories and excerpts is no exception. Wonderfully woven and perfectly spun to pull you into a world of fantasy and suspense, even horror.
