I was quite excited when I downloaded it to my kindle 2/3 months back, but sad to say after reading two chapters it didn't pique my interest any further. I am taking it off my reading list, might read it when I really have nothing else to read! I find it really tedious, together with less interest makes it even more difficult task to complete the whole book. There are parts where the author depicts low opinion on minorities, misleading historical insights (great mutiny India) and stereotyped views of women, pinning women as a mere frail object, as their fragile nature are not fit to handle news in regards to crime/peril adventures. It's too much to take in, though I understand from the author's perspective in that era those views are considered normal, but reading in this generation it's hard to digest! I find adaptation of Sherlock Holmes by other authors are more convincing and thrilling to my satisfaction. But original is always an original, so my respect to his works, if not he penned there wouldn't be a Sherlock Holmes or John Watson for us. Therefore 2 stars.

The original Sherlock Holmes stories have aged really well! One of the most accessible classics I know of.
