Thorough chronological approach to the Civil War on a juvenile level. The text is a bit dry, but the chapters are fairly short, in good "bite-sized" chunks with maps, reproduced photographs, and other illustrations. I appreciate the maps early in the book especially, though they seem to peter out about halfway through and the text keeps referring the reader to the initial map showing the major battles of the entire war, which isn't very detailed.
