Less good than the other one. Not my favorite, and drags on a bit, but still fun to learn more about Ancient Egyptian lore, which I never learned much about. Plus author lives in my hometown, so that is fun.

It was... fine. Parts of this were funnier than the first book (Mak and I both liked Bes), but the story wasn't nearly as satisfying for me. I feel like I learned less about the mythology underlying the story, and the "combat" wasn't as interesting.
Some of the actions by Carter and Sadie seemed inconsistent within the context of this book, and certainly compared to their actions in the first book. I think this is supposed to be "character growth" or "teens growing up", but if that's the case here, it is not done very well. Which is surprising based on how well Riordan developed the characters over the PJ book series.
Also, an "ick" factor for me: There is a 16 year-old in this story who has a crush on a 12 year-old but that's supposed to be okay because she thinks he's cute, too? But don't worry, because she turns 13 during the book.

Questo libro, a mio parere, se non avesse avuto delle parti che ho trovato abbastanza noiose, sarebbe stato al livello del primo, che mi è piaciuto molto di più.
L’idea dietro a questo seguito è carina, e mi è piaciuto vedere Carter e Sadie nei panni di insegnanti. Parlando dei protagonisti, Carter rimane il mio preferito, sua sorella in alcuni momenti avrei preferito che non esistesse. Mi ha irritato molte volte la sua presenza. I nuovi personaggi che ci vengono introdotti hanno una storia per niente scontata e mi sono piaciuti molto, specialmente un particolare capitolo riguardo le migliori amiche di Sadie.
Bast, anche se non la vediamo molto, resta sempre splendida. Ma questa volta abbiamo il piacere di conoscere una nuova persona, un amico molto particolare.
A proposito di lui..
Mi solo affezionata molto a Bes durante la lettura. È stato parecchio divertente, e quel passaggio negli ultimi capitoli insieme al Dio della Luna (del quale non voglio ricordare neanche il nome da quanto lo trovo orribile e ripugnante) mi ha fatto sciogliere e arrabbiare con lui allo stesso tempo. Non si meritava quel destino, anche se l’ha scelto lui stesso.
Per il resto, ci sono state volte in cui mi sono annoiata per un capitolo intero, altre in cui fremevo per andare avanti e il caso volesse che in quel momento dovessi mollare il mio Kindle e uscire. È stato bello vedere come, dal primo libro, i protagonisti siano cambiati e abbiano assunto più controllo e consapevolezza del loro mondo.
Non è stato altrettanto bello sapere di dover rivedere Ziah, che già di per se non è il mio personaggio preferito. Ma su questo non posso farci nulla.
Aspetto di andare avanti e leggere il prossimo e ultimo libro.
