We listened to this book as we drove around on vacation. The thing that's so great about these books: everyone in my family enjoys them. Lots of action and always with a funny spin on the wording (especially the chapter names) that has us laughing. One thing I really like about the way these books are told is the two voices -- brother and sister -- who are sending these works out to the world to recruit other people to their cause. That extra layer of the brother and sister disagreeing, at times, about the way things happened really improves these books, I think. Also, I'm learning a lot about Egyptian history and mythology. I can't wait for the next one in this series.

I really enjoyed the continuation of the story of siblings Carter and Sadie Kane. The Egyptian mythology is a lot of fun to learn about considering we usually hear only about Greek and Roman gods/godesses. If you like mythology, magic, etc., ignore the fact that it is a young adult series.
Rick RIordan is a writing monster! I don't know how he has the time to write the Kane Chronicles and all the Olympus books while doing research for the books and still have any kind of life outside his writing. The crazy thing is that nothing ever feels like he rushed through writing, either. His style is so action packed yet informative (I learn a lot about mythology from his books!) and the characters are just fun, full of life, and each have such a distinct voice. Can't wait for the next Kane book to come out... a war is coming...
