I am having a hard time getting into this story.
I'm not sure why.

I am a Riordan fan, but this series isn't doing it for me.

Okay, part 2 of the Kane Chronicles and I have to say, I liked this book even more than the first. The characters and their relationships have definitely developed further and it was also exciting to see how Carter and Sadie use magic now without the gods in them and also how they react to Egyptian mythology and how they become even more powerful!!  I found the approach quite interesting that they absolutely wanted to save the sun god Re, even though it was a big risk because he is actually very old and powerless and yet they still believed it was the right thing to do, even though all sorts of gods and magicians advised against it. The only thing that bothered me a bit was the length of the chapters, because I personally really like shorter chapters and some of them were really long, but overall the writing style was great  and the story was very interesting and I'm excited to see how it continues in the next part.

The development of the  romantic relationships between Carter and Zia was quite interesting to see because after saving her she hadn't returned his feelings. But at the end there is a bit of a tease that maybe something will happened, a really tragic story I must say. Sadie also has her options Anubis, of course, and Walt. I'll be honest, I think it's a bit strange because the guys are both supposed to be 16 and Anubis is also an old god and Sadie only turns 13 in this book, so there is a bit of cringe but I am interested to see how this continues. And it is also very sad that Walt is cursed to die young and Bes “death” too. He is basically dead inside and his and doesn’t remember anything. I hope they find a way to save Bes. I also think it was not such a good idea to awaken Re and Carter maybe should have become King with Horus, the sun god is weak and I just don't Know-how they suppose to fight Apophis in the next part and also Desjardin death, was sad but so quick. At least Amos is now the most powerful Magician!

Another cute story, fun and exciting and a nice light read. Though it's been a while since I read the last one, this one felt more serious somehow, even though it was still full of funny similes and descriptions. I still sometimes get confused between reading Sadie and Carter, especially when I read whole bunches of chapters at once.
