I didn't love it. It seemed rather disjointed at times and I found myself filling in the blanks more than I wanted to.

A very short, very sad story. People need to learn how to have a conversation before making important life choices (although, it certainly fits with the time period that they would not)

A really nice short story - I really wanted to know more about these characters. If this is a taste of the anthology it will be a really good one.

A very large story for such a short work. It conveys a much larger narrative of love and loss and miscommunication and need vs want and all the million stupid reasons we do what we do and don't look back, even though maybe sometimes we should.

Though, I think, it would make a very good historical drama film. It's brevity would mean there wouldn't be anything they could leave out. And all of the implied drama in the story could be fleshed out visually.

It is amazing, that with so few words, the author so vividly creates an emotional and visual narrative.

If the other stories in Fall of Poppies are even half this enjoyable, then the anthology will be a really good read. Can't wait!
