I don't know what took me so long to read Ginger Scott's books, but I have read a few now and I am becoming a huge fan of hers! Each book of hers that I have read now has been well written, emotional and so captivating that they are almost impossible to put down. A Boy Like You is everything I have come to expect from her and yet it also had a bit of a different feel. I definitely recommend this one or anything by Ginger Scott if you haven't read anything by her before.

When her life fell apart as a child, a boy named Christopher was the one to save her. He made her feel safe until he disappeared. Now Joss is seventeen and is nothing like the girl she once was. But then a new boy named Wes comes into the picture and everything changes for Joss once again. Though he is different from the boy she remembers, she can't help but feel as though things about him feel familiar. But after everything that has happened, can he save Joss from herself?

I loved Wes so much! He is everything that you hope for in a book boyfriend, sweet and caring and easy to like. He was complicated and deep, with so much more to him than meets the eye. He was absolutely perfect for Joss though and I couldn't get enough of him. Joss was feisty and I was so glad she still had such fight in her after all that she had been through. She makes you want to reach into the book and give her a hug, because you just know that after everything that has happened she deserves so much more. She didn't always make the best decisions, and yet it was easy to understand why she did the things that she did.

This book was a slow burn and being a YA/NA book, it was about so much more than physical between these two since that wasn't the focus here. Their connection felt natural and genuine, forming over the course of the book with enough tension and emotion to keep the reader turning pages from start to finish. I will admit that I had no idea this wasn't a standalone story when I started, so suffice it to say the ending was a shock to me. I am not the biggest fan of cliffhangers, but I really believe that it is worth the read. I look forward to reading more and seeing what happens next for these characters and how everything plays out. This is definitely one I recommend, and I think readers and fans of Ginger Scott are going to love this one!

Holy. Crap.

Okay, first, let me say that I had a very small problem getting into the book right off the bat. It took me a little while to warm up to Joss but within the first few chapters something happened (I’m going to call it Ginger Scott magic) and I just adored her. She is handed a rough life that is well hidden from the community and has a hard time dealing with responsibilities that come along with it. Because of this, she acts out, like any teenager would. Sometimes, these moments of acting out would be what would make me a little cold to her character but then the warm moments would come when she would realize that she could have some kind of happiness with the new kid Wes in her life.

It was beautiful to see how much Joss opened up when Wes was around. To see her start to care about her life, school, baseball, and her father with Wes’s influence was the perfect turning point for me. She just blossomed and showed the world who she could truly be. Joss no longer sabotaged anything that was good in her life; in fact, she started to embrace it…a little hesitantly but still embracing. It was so nice to see.

And no, this book is not the end of the series but dang is it good and it has be wanting more immediately.

I thought I was out of books for my quest of reading all ya books with baseball as a main plot device, but I found one more. To get that out of the way, this book was not what I expected. I was ready for a below average ya romance with some not like other girl vibes, and I definitely got that, don’t get me wrong. But I also got weirdly paranormal story and Edward Cullen as the love interest. There is no possible way this is not a twilight fanfic. It was creepy. He was like Edward in every way, he even saved the protagonist from getting hit by a car, which was also the first time he saved her, a la Edward. And it was never explained!!! How could he do all these death defying stunts and come out unscathed?? No explanation was given or even hinted at. I assume he was a vamp

I am DYING. I love every Ginger Scott book more than the last and this one is no exception. That ending though!! There were some things in this book that were exactly what I expected, while there were others that were not. Seriously though, can it be summer now??

I don't even know what to say except I am so emotionally destroyed right now. As much as Joss got on my nerves I was not expecting what happened and was torn about that ending. Such a good book, I have not been this surprised by a writing style in a good while and have very much enjoyed the last two books I've read by this author. I plan on reading more as soon as I can.

Joss’s life was changed in a the blink of an eye. The life she had and knew would be no more after a series of events. This book by Ginger Scott was very heavy and emotional. I just wanted to reach into my iPad and give her a hug several times and tell her everything would be ok.

Wes was Joss’s knight and shining armour who was always there when she needed him. He always seemed to be at the right place and time when it came to Joss. Wes is also keeping something from Joss and once you read it will all make sense or will it?

Throughout this story I had some questions and theories when it comes to Wes. He seems too good to be true and now it has me questioning some things. I really enjoyed this story by Ginger Scott. It touched on some heavy subject matter. This book wasn't all sunshine and roses. Joss and her father both struggled after the mom walks out. They were both hurting and going down a dark path. Will they be strong enough to find the right path and heal again?

This book wasn't easy to read at times but I had to keep going. Scott sucked me in with her writing. This is the kind of story that just stays with you.And let's talk about that ending! I'm still trying to wrap my head around it and I know have EVEN more questions and theories when it comes to Wes. If you are looking for an emotional, tug at your heart strings book look no further.

A Boy Like You was a wonderfully written novel that captured the angst and romance of a coming-of-age story beautifully. I didn’t expect it to be as angst-y of a read as it was, not just romantically but emotionally as well. The story is about a boy saving a girl, who then disappears, to then possibly reappear years later. But is it him? Scott weaves that mystery throughout, building it with a quiet-like mysteriousness, just as mysterious and brooding as our hero.

There was such beauty and pain in Joss. Her reckless nature that is tied so closely to her sense of abandonment is vivid and palpable at all times. That sort of hurt that she carried throughout pulled at me and ripped apart my insides with each page. With the introduction of her quiet savior, Wes, she finally has arms to fall back on again. But it doesn’t mean she will. Their slow burn romance lit the pages of the story, carrying them through the tango they danced, advancing and then losing ground. It’s the kind of romance that inspires the reader and is absolutely decadent to consume.

One thing I love about Scott is how she can write the subtle nuances of things so very well. She romanticized baseball and its connection to the both of them, making it a great secondary character. How Wes pitched, how he gazed at her, how his sinewy forearms reacted to his hold on the ball…Every word pulls you in and shows you the connection that is floating in the air, something that isn’t read but felt. Something that makes this story great.

A Boy Like You is gut-clenching, heart-wrenching, and amazing love story. Scott plays this tune well–forcing the quick turn of the pages and the angst-driven emotion until the very end. I don’t feel like any of my words speak to the true greatness of this novel, but I hope that you give it a try even if you don’t typically read YA. It’s a book that everyone should experience and I can’t recommend it highly enough. The beauty of it truly speaks for itself. I can't wait for more.

Wow!! Oh my goodness. This story is SO good. I read the whole thing in one day (just a few hours!), and now, I'm (im)patiently waiting for the sequel to this duet. Because Joss and Wes have an amazing story that absolutely needs to be told, and only Ginger Scott can tell it right. There's so much strength and power behind the words. And each layer that unfolded left me more and more intrigued! I need to go back through this author's catalog and read the rest. This is the second book of hers I've read, but I need to know the rest of the magic she's written. <3

First Ginger Scott book and I am super impressed.
Fell in love with Joss and Wes. Slow burn, heart wrenching and full of emotions, I can’t get my hands fast enough on #2 for the conclusion for this sweet and mysterious story.
