I don’t normally write reviews as the stars, in my opinion, speaks for itself. This will be one of the rare times where I feel the need to speak in my review. This book had me locked in from start to finish. I fell in love with Romantasy because of ACOTAR but I feel deep within me that this is my favorite Romantasy of ALL time. The emotions and likability of all the characters, even the villains, had me hooked. I cannot wait for book 2 to come out so that I can continue the series. The love the MC’s have for each other is otherworldly. The care and love they feel towards their friends is beautiful. The respect and understanding when someone makes a mistake is truly amazing. Callie Hart j love your brain! The twists in this book had me gasping and the things they go through truly amazing and shocked me. I want anyone and everyone to read this book if they love a good Romantasy. The Smut too!!!!! Had me clutching my pearls and giggling and blushing.

Slow-burn, enemies to lovers, just enough spice but not so much that it takes over the plot. Very much reminiscent of Sarah J. Maas. Cannot wait for the next book!

I really enjoyed it!
The beginning was epic world building but then it slowed down and it took me a bit to get back into the story. But, it was a great story, very epic fantasy. Gosh I want to leave a longer review but I stayed up till 2am to finish reading it!

If your on the fence about it or feel it slows down after act 1, I 100% recommended that you pick it up and keep reading.

The beginning of this book was slow going, and I almost DNF'd it. However, I'm really glad I didn't.

In the beginning and until like 3/4 of the way through the book I found Saeris annoying. She really just searched for reasons to be pissed off at Kingfisher and a lot of them were dumb. Like, "he answered my question, how dare he!" type stuff. Like girly, you know he's snarky why are you surprised?

I did like the found family aspect of the book, the recurring side characters were fleshed out pretty well and I'm looking forward to seeing them in the next book. Kingfisher was also great, even if he was snarky to Saeris. Saeris was snarky back though, so I think it all evens out. This book is technically enemies to lovers but I never really felt like Saeris and Kingfisher were truly enemies at any point. It felt more like frenemies to lovers to me, because it was obvious from the beginning that Fisher cared about Saeris a lot even if he didn't want to admit it.

Really enjoyed this book. It is a little slow at first due to the level of details but its word the read/listen. Enjoyed the character and story development. Definitely some spicy scenes.
