Very repetitive, often saying word for word something from a previous chapter. I’d thought it was decent until I got to the chapter on marriage which began with how men and women are two halves of whole because they have different characteristics and I decided to skip the last few chapters

"No Excuses! The Power of Self-discipline," by Brian Tracy offers valuable advice on how to improve self-discipline and achieve your goals. I feel like it was heavily inspired by Dale Carnegie's books.
The main key point to focus on are:
- Take responsibility
- Set clear, specific, and measurable goals
- Prioritize tasks based on their importance
- Cultivate the habit of self-discipline by staying committed to your goals
- Manage time effectively
- Replace negative habits with positive ones that support your goals and values.
- Stay motivated by regularly reviewing your progress, rewarding yourself for small wins, and visualizing your success.
Like most self-improvement books, I feel like the book could have been shorter.

informative inspiring reflective medium-paced

I liked a lot of the information in the book, and other information I disagree with wholeheartedly.

Just not for me- might have given this 3 stars if the audio book tone read better for me.

I'm honestly in two minds about this book. In some ways, it looks at things too simplistically. 'Accepting responsibility for everything that has happened to you' is an example. It is not be emotionally healthy to just accept responsibility without confronting the emotion and understanding what caused it in the first place. There are also some archaic gender assumptions in the book.

Having said that, as in "Eat that frog". Brian Tracy excels at distilling frameworks down to usable, meaningful steps. You will walk away with immediate ideas on how to improve how you live and work. Overall, well worth a read as long as you are critical about some of the ideas here -especially concerning mental health.

This book was a gut punch to me. I realized reading it twice in a row how complacent I’ve become. The truth is we need to continuously strive to grow. We don’t stay neutral. Either grow or regress. This is a book I’ll go back to in various seasons of my life for a jumpstart.

Highly recommend.

More for geared towards business folks, I guess. But the 80/20 rule can be applicable in all walks of life.

Ive read almost two thousand books on a variety of subjects over the years and I can honestly say if someone asked me to give them one book to help them become successful in life it would be this one. Its full of simple, straight-forward advice in 21 key areas of life such as: relationships, career success, leadership, finances, health, courage, happiness, character(my favorite), responsibility, time-management, peace of my mind, and many others. Brian really knocked it out the park with this one. This is one I will re-read every year.

**Update 3/2015**
Since this book has 21 reasonably short chapters, I read one chapter every morning completing the book every 21 days. It takes me about 15-20 min each day.(depending on the length of each chapter) Its a great way to get your day started, you may want to try this as well.

Update 2017**
To be clear, there are better personal development books on the market but very few are more easy to read, practical and cover a broad range of topics like this book.

Update 2021
I still love this book, it has helped me and everyone I’ve recommended it to a lot. There are two other personal development books I think are incredible: the essence of success by earl nightingale(get the full length audio version not the book) and the law of success by Napoleon hill.
