wow. just, wow. 

this book hit so close to home, as someone who also lost a grandparent they were close to, though to different circumstances.
i know the love marin has for her gramps, how deeply it goes & the crater that was left when he was gone & reading this book i felt all those emotions again. 

a beautifully written book, there's so many lines that are going to stick with me forever.

i wish that each time i re-read this book, whenever i'm ready for it, that it's like i'm reading it for the first time.

Marin's mother is said to die via drowning in the ocean, but no details are given A little more detail is given when talking about when

gramps is said to kill himself the same way. it talks about how the tides drag people deep under. marin thinks about what he must've felt/looked like. a body is never found

it never goes further than abstract details/imaging but i'd still consider it upsetting, especially if drowning & suicide is something you're sensitive too marin deals with depression throughout the book, but towards the end more details of how she lived with her mental illness & her anxieties are given

i’ve probably read this book close to ten times, and i get something new out of it every time. it’s one of the best books i’ve ever read. even though it’s deeply sad, there’s something so comforting about it. lacour’s writing is enchanting.
