Finally, an end to this very complicated series! (And I was just shocked to find out that the author passed away earlier this year!) All the main characters from the previous entries in the series show up here, as time proceeds towards the day of silence.
Overall, it was a satisfying ending. Pretty much all of the loose endings were tied up, although I do wish she had used Budu more. There was a little bit of overuse of the old deus ex, but it's sci-fi, so I can be forgiving.
My only complaint with the series as a whole, is that I wish they had spent more time in the past. I mean, come on, cyborgs in the past! What fun! But first book was Elizabethan, second book 100 years later, 3rd book 1860s, then bam! the rest of the series is in the far future.
I highly recommend the series for fans of sci-fi. It's a great pity we lost this author at such a young age, I think she would have told some more great stories.

Kind of a quiet ending. Since the bad guys were only big/introduced in the past few books, and not majorly, their comeuppance was kind of meh. And other than their comeuppance the denouement was practically unevventful. It didn't bother me too much, though. It did wrap everything up just fine IIRC.

I loved it. Amazingly culmination of the Company series. I got annoyed at Edward/Alec/Nicolas but he's always annoyed me. Loved how all the old storylines and little things reappeared and were brought together. Very fun!

Wow! I could not imagine how [a:Kage Baker|53193|Kage Baker|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1224057034p2/53193.jpg] was going to wrap up all the diverse storylines and bring this series to anything resembling a satisfying conclusion, but she did and then some! I can’t say much more for fear of spoilers, but what seemed like an unholy mess filled with dead ends at the conclusion of [b:The Machine's Child|270487|The Machine's Child (The Company, #7)|Kage Baker|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1389234785s/270487.jpg|262219] turns out to be quite neatly resolved. Aahhhh, the payoff is worth the wait.

Everything comes to a head in this eighth volume of the Company series (though there are still two more books so who knows). Several characters make a return and there are some delightful new characters (Princess Tiara Parakeet!), along with our usual crew. Things are pretty weird and occasionally uncomfortable, but I loved reading this. A-.

I'm not giving 5 stars to this particular book, but 5 stars to the series as a whole. It's not perfect, but with it's mix of immortals, Tudor England, old Hollywood, the past, the future, and a whole lot in-between, I love this series.

Last one! It's taken 10 years of obsessively reading every novel and short story in this world I can get my hands on. I'm so excited to find out how the story ends.

Phew. This is the last of a series of novels and short story collections about the adventures of time traveling cyborgs. Storylines hurtle towards the Silence - the date when all knowledge of the future stops. Of course it's weird, but it was satisfying enough.
