It was hard to follow until about half-way through. But once I could follow, this is a great story!

I’ve never read the original series, so I’m sure I’m missing some of the subplot, and one of the plot lines is a lot more interesting than the other - but it really kicks up a gear when the two plots cross.
Unfortunately the end is kind of what I expected and ends in a cliffhanger of sorts.

This was a surprise pick! I was picking up my on hold books at the library and just walked through the SciFi shelves to see if there was anything to add to my pile, and this peaked my interest. It's the first book in the Chromos Origin series and was a complete page turner! I ate it up! Part detective mystery, part time travel escapades, the characters are complex and well fleshed out. With history shifting with each jump through time, with parallel timelines crossing and mixing it's a trip worth reading!
Now I have to talk the library into getting the other two books in their stacks!

DNF like 60%. Book wasnt bad. Just when I started it I didn’t realize it was a prequel series and felt like I was missing a lot since I haven’t read the original series. So I’m going to read those books and then come back to this one.

The original Rysa Walker Chronos adventure was a densely packed, fully realized ball of timey wimey goodness and confusion that worked because I believed and fully bought in. The origin series starts much the same way. The exposition is thick, the story is complex, but I held in there because I believe in the author. Here’s hoping we see the direction a bit more fleshed out in the second book.
