It’s much more different from the TV show than I was expecting.  But obviously just as cute. I prefer the characterization from the show more though

Lovely book. Made me laugh and drew me in from the first page. Loved how Barney’s transness was handled.

An incredibly diverse and fun read!

The beginning chapters seem more sequential, making the first half a bit weaker than the second. These stories try to cover a lot of ground in very little space, making the conflicts and emotional payoffs surface-level at best. However, this is made up for in spades with the delightful characters, appealing art, and stellar humor. The line "Oh God, I'm a furry" legitimately made me laugh out loud, and there are so many of these moments throughout. The humor really works in the book's favor, especially to smooth out those initial bumps in the story I mentioned. I should point out that the story picks up immensely in the second half, though.

The characters are given so much depth, and it never feels like the plot is taking a break for the exposition. Not to mention that the main cast is stunningly diverse, in terms of gender, race, sexuality, and neurodivergence. It's so rare to get this much representation at once, and while this isn't the most important element of the story, it's like the cherry on top of an awesome cheesecake. It's probably not everyone's favorite, but I sure liked it a hell of a lot.
