My six year old loved this and made me pick it up and read his favorite, [a:Dav Pilkey's|33280|Dav Pilkey|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1309174964p2/33280.jpg] contribution Book ‘Em Dog Man! (intentionally riddled with spelling errors, much to my disquietude). I ended up leafing through the whole thing, and while I did not connect with all of the artists, I was quite impressed by the sections written by [a:Dan Santat|1251403|Dan Santat|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1380608941p2/1251403.jpg] and [a:Gene Luen Yang|68959|Gene Luen Yang|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1415919636p2/68959.jpg] in particular and I will definitely be on the watch for their books. I also enjoyed [a:Eric Wight|2722|Eric Wight|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1249631572p2/2722.jpg] and his Jiminy Sprinkles in “Freeze Tag", it was witty and appealingly drawn.

Love this compilation.
Thrilled to see there will be another one. Loved that it was dedicated to #nerdybookclub

10 fantastic graphic novelists get together in this short story collection centered around what happens during recess. This is a wonderful introduction to graphic novels, as well as a way for fans of some of the authors to discover others. I hope that there will be other Comics Squad books to come! Recommended for grades 3 & up.

My students are going to go crazy for this! It has a story from EVERY popular children's graphic novel author of the moment. Favorites were the first by Gene Luen Yang (srs ninja lessons) and the last by Dave Roman and Raina Telgemeier (KICKBALL RPG! SOGOOD!).

10 different stories by popular comics artists that all incorporate the idea of recess in some way. My favorites were the stories by Dan Santat (heavily incorporates [b:The Giving Tree|370493|The Giving Tree|Shel Silverstein|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1174210942s/370493.jpg|30530]) and Raina Telgemeier & Dave Roman (a rain-delayed game of kickball is played indoors D&D-style with a 12-sided die). The weak point was the story by Eric Wight, where rival foods settle their differences on the playground - kinda pedestrian and preachy in its anti-bullying message. Overall, a super-fun read that I'll recommend to kids who enjoy Babymouse/Squish and Lunch Lady.

Recess was never my favorite subject, but this is a great collection of stories that readers will enjoy. No recess love required.

This was a cute compilation of graphic novellas from some of my favorite authors - with the theme of recess. Gene Luen Yang's Super Secret Ninja Club story was by far my favorite. It just had the essence of all his other graphic novels. Raina Telgemeier's story about kickball RPG-style was incredible. It was so much fun and the poke at the former VP made me giggle. You'll see what I mean when you read it (it's one of those things that kids may not get, but adult definitely will).

Great variety of comics which will appeal to anyone in upper elementary school with a sense of humor. Zipped through it too quickly; wish there was more.
