I absolutely adore memoirs written in this style. Imbler weaves oceanography and queerness and racism and just humanness together so well and I loved every moment of this audiobook

an absolute stunner. perspective and experience are critical and beautiful, and i feel so lucky––though "lucky" doesn't feel nearly like strong enough a word––to have been able to bear witness to imbler's.

I kind of wish I had read some of these essays with more time between them or in a different order. They were fantastic reflections, but they did start to feel overly similar and thus less impactful toward the end.
