I had mixed feelings about the first book in this series but the world and story had grabbed me, and I'm glad I stuck with it because book 2 was MUCH better.
My 2 favourite characters (Xander & Cassie) got much more page time in this and their relationship is going the way I hoped 😍 they also matured and evolved so much in this book.
Lyanna and Rafe are still a bit annoying but they did grow up a lot in this book, and I'm glad they were separated for a lot of it so we could see them as individuals.
I also loved the POV chapters from Brighty and want to see more of her in the sequels.
Most of this book was set in the world below so you got more insight into the prophecy, the magic and the people. As well as the task that the characters face.
Also, I'm a sucker for ship crews & found families so I really enjoyed that aspect, and seeing Rafe be accepted by others for being himself.
I find that the writing style of these books flows really well & even though they're quite long page wise, it doesn't feel like it when you're reading it.
I'm also super excited to read the next books after the events at the end of this one.
