I finished the book, but I disliked it more and more as I read it. It started off good, and then it just got awful. The entire plot depended on the fact that Evie decides to stop using the internet. But not only that she stops using email. Sorry, but if you're going to cut yourself off from a common tool of communication, of course you're going to be out of the loop. It was too contrived.

This book was billed as one about someone who stopped using social media to interact with people, instead opting to have real, authentic conversations with them. However, I'm really not sure if that's what happened in this book, unless you think that being "real" is being mean to friends with no cause, or removing yourself from social interactions in general. I found that the protagonist was very annoying, and tended to be so stuck in insecurity that it was stifling. Maybe with some more editing, the book could have been shorter and sweeter, but it got a little ramble-y and I think lost the message in there. A nice premise - put down the phone and talk to someone - but I'm not certain about the execution here.

Do you read lighter books when the weather starts heating up? If your answer is a yes, then grab this book and throw it in your beach bag! Evie Rosen is single and not quite happily single and when her job situation suddenly changes she is thrown into a spiral. Where she used to find a lot of personal value in her job, she is now having to reevaluate and refocus her life. With this, she is going to take an internet hiatus and put down the smartphone and log off of everything!

Evie was a great character to spend a book with. She definitely had her moments and I wanted to tell her to buck up a few times, but it never lasted longer than I could handle! I was so thankful that Evie was both in pursuit of a relationship and the right career path - the book didn't focus on one or the other and I liked that.

I'd like a bit more focus on the effect of Internet Cold Turkey. Otherwise it's an ok book

Unfortunately, this book wasn't that great. I think there was too much going on and it seemed to be very lecture heavy about the benefits of a technology free lifestyle. There were many times that I put the book down and almost didn't pick it up again, but I had to see if it got better.

This book is like a train wreck....it's so awful you don't want to keep reading, but you just can't tear yourself away from it. The only thing good about it is the happy ending - I'm a sucker for those.

I'll never read another book by this author. Do yourself a favor, don't start it.

Light-hearted, relatable, 21st - century - problem romantic comedy. I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Evie Rosen, a 34 - year-old Manhattan lawyer whose attachment to technology 24/7 makes her miss the great life she has right in front of her and leaves her doubting her own worth, especially due to her single status in a "couple - friendly" world. The characters are enjoyable, albeit stereotypical, and the plot is quite enjoyable. I devoured this novel in just a few days, thanks to a pretty beach and some great weather. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a light read and a nice distraction from our own obsession with technology.

*Full disclosure: I posted this from my smartphone. Kind of hypocritical considering the main character's point throughout the novel. Sorry, Evie!

If I wasn't reading this book for book club I would have NEVER finished it. Unfortunately I had to stick it out to its sappy and utterly predictable ending. It's not even worth taking time to write a bad review. I wish I had the hours back that I wasted reading this book.

It's your typical "chick-lit"/ romantic comedy story but it did get me thinking about how much time we spend glued to the internet.
