I bought this book because I was a fan of the TV show 'Bones' - unfortunately the characters within this book don't really ring true to either the show or the book series by Kathy Reichs (which formed the basis of the show).

At a guess I would say that this book is set early season one, possibly season two of the show - the squints have passing mentions as the book is based in Chicago, it is a shame that they are used so infrequently as the Angela - Brennan interactions are some of the more enjoyable in the show.

The Booth/Brennan interaction is relatively true to the early seasons - not really 'friends' but more than colleagues - but some of the things that are said just make them both seem kind of out of character.

The plot is interesting, but not really gripping and it definitely ends very abruptly - there are also some leaps of logic or intuition that come totally out of the blue which I found strange - hence the relatively low rating.

Saw this at the Friends bookstore - how could I pass up a novelization of a favorite show? It was pretty good, season 1 era, Brennan & Booth were in Chicago so the squints were only present via phone. I notice there were no more written, I guess it's overkill to write books based on a show that is in turn based on a book series?
