3.25. Tessa Bailey is such a hit or miss author for me. The book overall was sweet & solid. i appreciated Josephine (FMC) & the diabetes rep. I definitely enjoyed the book overall but everything happened so fast (I’m more of a slow burn girly). The timeline of this book is about 6-8ish weeks. I don’t want to spoil it but the way Wells (MMC) just has this indescribable desire to take of/check on Josephine at the beginning is so unnatural to me. I really, really wanted to know more about Wells family too. It seems odd that even if they abandoned him when he was younger that they there was no interaction at all after he became famous. And I think that Wells straddled the line of alcoholism in a way that either needs to be addressed or removed from the book. I actually think Wells would have benefited from therapy in general.

Not mad I read it, not even mad I bought it (I’m a sucker for a target exclusive) but I would recommend borrowing this from the library personally vs spending your own money on it UNLESS you are a die hard Tessa Bailey fan. 🚨spicy spoiler below🚨

I’m not here to yuck anyone else’s yum but I was not a fan seeing (well reading) about men getting their salad tossed BUT THAT IS JUST ME.

This plot reminded me of fanfics circa 2013 lol it was so unrealistic and didnt make a whole lot of sense but the heart was there! I also learned a lot about type 1 diabetes which isnt what i thought the takeaway would be

Okay Tessa! Apparrntly i have a niche love for romances with one character who has t1d? Who knew?

Golf player with fan into caddy into girlfriend. Grumpy sunshine with heavy protector I'll hurt you vibes. I think the touch her you die was a little extra against the golf background but Tessa did a great job developing wells so it would make enough sense with his character. I loved the lack of exterior pointless drama, very centered on the storyline happening here and now and the 2 main characters. I also enjoyed that while there were tensions and disagreements it didn't lead to pointless breakups, the characters had honesty and confronted it and discussed and I don't see that enough in romance.

Like another book this year retirement and engagement at the end was an interesting choice but it felt more congruent in this book.

Will say, steamy, and I'm not even mad.

UGH I just knew I was going to love this book. I loved how the characters grew and how they didn’t break up just took space. It was so good and I don’t even like golf. Already pre ordered the next one!!
