predictable murakami if that’s your thing. What it has
  • sad young man who get way to hung up on old friendships
  • women that are nothing more than a pair of boobs
  • Trains
What it lacks
  • Any form of character development
I didn’t hate it it’s just more or less exactly what I expect every Murakami book to be

I think it's okay. It follows the a man who believes he's just a guy. With emphasis on just a guy that likes to build train stations. Murakami writing about a guy, who's just a guy is what half of this book is. It's repeated constantly. The characters in this book are also pretty uninteresting and not the most likeable people. One of the biggest problems is how women we're written. The only woman character that has larger role functions as a love interest that is only seen by the MC as an object for sex and desire.

Colorless Tsukuru does have good moments and its Murakami trademarks. It wasn't a hassle to get through. It definitely gets repetitive but remained decently interesting throughout. A quote on human connection is one of the few things that rung.
