I like this mythology and the Lucian is so old fashioned having hibernated so long. Natalie has self esteem problems which I hate because hey come with repeated shaming. But they form a connection even before meeting, so Lucian has to be different from her other boyfriends, right? Taking place in an established "world" gives this short tale a much larger feel. Just right for an afternoon escape.

Secrets and self doubt don't make for good bedfellows...

I'm really enjoying this unique paranormal series, each book can be read alone but more fun reading them all.
Lucian is a dragon shifter who went into hibernation over a heart break 150 years ago. He awoke to a whole new world with his castle destroyed and his clan all gone. Natalie is a mail order bride for shifters and she catches his eye. She is a curvaceous girl and a bit insecure due to past relationships.
I kept wondering can they possibly have romance, he's out of touch and she's wary. Circumstances that could end badly throw them together. Will one of them die or will they have their HEA?
Well written story and fun characters, I highly recommend it.

Lucian sought sleep when he was betrayed by the woman he loved. But when he finally awakens during an eclipse he finds himself alone and the world a very different place then when he went to sleep over a century ago. He goes searching for his old friend, the Dragon Councillor.

He finds his old friend with a new bride and a new lease on life. After acclimating for a few weeks he begins to trawl Alma Venus bride website himself and is stunned to find a female who is almost a clone of his lost Laura.

Natalie has begun to lost hope. She has been at Alma Venus for over a year and has had not even a sniff of a mate. But when she is contacted by Lucian she thinks she may have finally found a worthy male.

Natalia has very real self esteem issues and they do hobble her relationship with Lucian. She is quick to find fault when he puts his foot in it several times and imagines slights when there really are none. Lucian feels unworthy of love after losing his clan but when he almost loses Natalie to an unforeseen foe, he is still left reeling when she refuses to become a hybrid and recover more quickly. She sees it as just another way for a man to change her.

My only quibble was how quickly Lucian seemed to catch up with technology!

This was the best of the three books, well developed and sympathic characters. I liked the hero and the heroine. I felt that there wasn't a great deal of conflict between the hero and heroine, they just got together and got their HEA. Story was fairly well written but again I was unsatisfied. I don't think I'd read the story again.
