Bleach, Vol. 39: El Verdugo by Tite Kubo

A pretty middle-of-the-road volume of Bleach, with some seriously good spots - like the arrival of back-up from Soul Society and the actions of a certain elder shinigami. And it looks like Kubo has finally remembered Ichigo exists and is in the middle of a major duel. If volume 40 is dominated by the Ichigo/Ulquiorra fight, that would be all right with me.

It’s starting to drag a little - I would really like the story to progress with a little less focus on fight scenes

È ritornato il problema legato agli scontri: troppi tutti in una volta e anche un po' dispersivi.
Lascio comunque cinque stelle perché alcune scene sono state a dir poco ✨ EPICHE ✨

This volume has some of my favourite moments from this arc. I loved seeing Soi Fon kill Ggio Vega. I loved how the most powerful Espadas begin to have their time to shine in the spotlight. Momo joining the fight was especially satisfying and drove home Aizen’s betrayal. I think Momo’s character arc easily enforces and deepens Aizen’s arc as we as the audience can empathize easily with Momo and root for her after she was betrayed and left for dead. I loved seeing Momo’s expertise at Kidō. I loved seeing the focus on the Tres Bestias (the third Espada’s Fracción) and how they’re able to cut off part of themselves to fuse and create Ayon, a deadly and powerful chimera creature. I loved how brutal and devastating Ayon was, and how Head Captain Yamamoto had to step in. I loved seeing Ulquiorra and Ichigo begin their fight and how everything is beginning to come to a dangerous head in the story overall.
