This was a good listen. I enjoyed hearing her make the case for why getting up at 5am and having a productive start to your day where you focus on things that make you happy (rather than just starting into your regular chores). The idea being to give yourself the an added 4% (1 hr) to your day when your brain is the freshest. She cites a bunch of studies to back up her points (ie lots of successful people start their days early, why we learn better right after periods of rest, etc.). I don't know if she convinced me to start getting up earlier but I definitely concede there are benefits. Love that she's Canadian and a prolific bestselling writer (who unironically does most of her writing at that 5am sweet spot hour). She does admit that it's not always feasible for certain people (ie shift workers or parents of young kids) but that it's worthwhile trying to eke out that 'you' time for better mental health, self-care, etc etc. and that the more you get into the habit of it the easier it will get (as with anything).

All over the place and quite repetitive. Felt like I was reading the same thing over and over.

I think that this book offered a simple concept in a way that seems very appealing to a lot of people. Simply. Waking up an hour earlier eoll help you achieve your dreams. She delves into the importance of changing your sleep cycle, reareanging your priorities, etc. I dont feel like the book offered much new in the conversation of productivity.

Want to find more time in your day? Author Karma Brown has a solution, the 4% fix. Add an hour to your day by getting up earlier and use the time to do something that you want to do. Full of practical tips, reasons why to try it, and reassurance for obstacles you will encounter. A practical way to reclaim time in your busy life.

The narrator is believable and pleasant to listen to.

Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for providing an arc for my honest review.

I am always looking for ways to better manage my time, so when I was offered the opportunity to listen to an advance copy of Karma Brown's new self-help guide, The 4% Fix, I jumped at the opportunity. While I consider myself to be fairly decent at managing my time, there's always room to improve, which is where this guide comes into play.

In the 4% Fix, Brown suggests devoting one hour - 4% - of your day to a task or project you are passionate about and/or something you wish to accomplish. You may be wondering where you are supposed to get this "extra hour" each day, and Brown has a solution that the sleepy sort may not like - waking up an hour earlier each day. I actually implemented a similar system in my life years ago, waking up an hour earlier before work so that I would have time to get some reading in before heading off to my commute and job (I was always too tired after work to keep my eyes open.) I must say that the strategy DID work, with me managing to beat my all-time reading record that year and leaving me filling more fulfilled and accomplished. Therefore, I can affirm that Brown's 4% method does work, but it does require commitment and perseverance.

Also sprinkled throughout the book are other helpful tips and information nuggets about better managing your time and making the most of the life you are given. I found the 4% Fix to be quite helpful and eye-opening, and I am eager to implement some of the strategies suggested into my life (staying off my phone more being one of them!)

Ann Marie Gideon did a fine job narrating this nonfiction title, reading at a comfortable pace and tone.
