Very naval gazey and “deep”… isn’t actually? This dude just isn’t for me I think.

I found this painfully boring :(. I don’t get the controversy either. I think the characters were written well enough, I just found the plotting and slowness a real slog to get through.

I honestly feel really conflicted about this book. I had to read this for my Modern British Literature class.

I completely devoured this book! I am loving that I added classics to my TBR last year and that I’m continuing on my journey with them, because when I pick up a classic like this, it fills me up in the most spectacular ways!

This is my first D. H. Lawrence book and I do intend on reading more. His writing is exquisite. The way he describes the scenery is utterly delectable and consumed me, I experienced the full warmth of it all, the textures and scents permeating my soul. I could have been inside a Monet, as he writes the scenes with such perfection. The moon in the pond scene was immaculate! His descriptive writing is breathtaking and I did not want to put the book down, I just wanted to stay in this world.

He has a stunning way of describing the characters full spectrum of emotions, be it angst, inertia, rage or blissful contentment, it’s all done so beautifully. I clearly have so praise for this book.

If all classics are written like this, count me in! A full 5 stars for this beauty!
