J'ai toujours été friandes de récit anthropomorphique (La guerre des clans, c'est ta faute) et j'ai tout de suite été attirée par Scurry en voyant une souris rousse sur le premier tome.
Et qu'est-ce que j'ai bien fait ! Les dessins sont magnifiques ! Les animaux sont très expressifs sans être ridicules, et puis les couleurs et le soleil qui filtre à travers la forêt ♡
J'ai adoré suivre cette colonie de souris (et autres animaux) et ses déboires pour survivre dans un monde post-apocalyptique délaissé des humains. C'était palpitant et bien exécuté sans trop tirer en longueur ! L'histoire se déroule ponctuée de rebondissements, de dangers et d'enjeux sans perdre son lecteur. J'ai adoré voir ces créatures massives comme un élan ou un loup du point de vue de minuscules petites souris

The art work is completely gorgeous. I found myself forgetting to read the story after getting caught up in the images. This is definitely the beginning of a story, and doesn't really have any resolution yet. I'm excited for the next installment.

This graphic novel is a kick starter project that a friend of mine supported and then lent me to check out. The story is a postapocalyptic (I assume) story about the animals left behind. That’s definitely a story that’s been told before very very well, and this was good, but the characters are hopefully more realized in the second volume? The art here is top notch. The lighting definitely has a very “computer animation” feel to it but it’s still just simply beautiful.

It's an introduction to a story that pays serious homage to the Secret of NIMH (or Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH), and it's an unobjectionable introduction. It's hard to launch into a grand story with many characters quickly, but it's done fairly well here.
And then there's the art. Holy moly. The art is incredible. Lavish and jaw-dropping, the pages done by Smith in time around his full-time job are a slap in the face to creative teams making comics for a living. I can't wait for the next volume.

Scurry nos cuenta la historia de una colonia de ratones que trata de sobrevivir en un mundo donde los humanos han desaparecido. Wix y su amigo Umf, una rata, son dos de los exploradores que buscan comida en las casas de los humanos mientras evitan caer en las garras de gatos como Titan, antiguo rival de Wix, y la gata Ork. Mientras tanto, en el refugio de la colonia se encuentran el anciano Orim y su inteligente hija Pict. Estos ven cómo las reservas de comida se agotan mientras se proponen varios planes de acción: esperar en la colonia, ir con Kessel a buscar un camión o ser parte del grupo de Resher que propone ir a ciudad. Todos los escenarios entrañan un peligro.
La historia que se presenta es sencilla pero está llena de posibilidades, ya que aún manteniendo el misterio de por qué no están los humanos se mantienen diferentes opciones para los ratones, cada una con problemas asociados y dudas morales. Los personajes se perfilan en este primer tomo y se sientan las bases de la historia para que se desarrolle en al menos dos tomos más. El apartado gráfico es simplemente impresionante.

Auch wenn ich den Graphic Novel insgesamt als niedlich empfinde, geht es doch ganz schön Haus her. Die im Mittelpunkt stehende Mäusekolonie hat mit vielen Schwierigkeiten in dem scheinbar apokalyptischen und menschenlosen Setting zu kämpfen. Dabei hilft es nicht, dass es auch untereinander zu immer mehr Reibereien kommt. Das führt zu einer Geschichte voller Abenteuer, Intrigen und unerwarteter Gefahren.
Die Zeichnungen sorgen dabei für viel Atmosphäre (durch ihr Spiel mit Schattierungen und Farbhinterlegungen) und tollen Spannungsbogen (mittels geschickt hervorgehobener Details und geschickter Farbabstimmung). Der in den Sprechblasen geschriebene Text ist klar verständlich und verhilft zu einem runden Leseerlebnis.
Wirklich toll finde ich auch die Art und Weise, wie auch tiefgründigere Themen, wie Mut zur Veränderung oder auch (einseitige) Abhängigkeiten, behandelt und in die Geschichte integriert werden.
Insgesamt ist das Buch etwas kurz und hört plötzlich Mitten im Handlungsstrang auf, ohne einen wirklichen Cliffhanger oder auch nur eine in sich abgeschlossene Plotline hervorzubringen.
