Riftwar Saga Book #2
The continuation of the first book. There is more focus on other characters that I grow to like more the the MC (Pug). It is a massive world with many characters that I feel the writing is very... simple. I usually expect more complex when it comes to fantasy worlds this big. I can see where there is more to come, but there is an ending that wraps things up in a nice little bow.
I feel like these first two books speed through from the characters being children to grown men/women. It is hard to really see the growth and development with how quickly it skipped ahead. It was almost like more of a quick backstory for the characters then a start of a series. It makes me curious to see if it continues like this throughout the series or if this is just how the author built the characters and the world to start.
It was enjoyable enough for me to want to read more of the series, though it is on the back burner from other series I have started to delve into at the moment.

Not well written but a lot of fun. I loved this series in junior high. Follow not only a magician as he comes into his own, but the best friend of his childhood as the friend enters godhood. I am afraid to read it again for fear of being disillusioned.
