Fun!

Listened to it with my daughter, she loves all the series.

This is a fun alternate series happening both at the same time, and long before, the Sufficiently Advanced Magic series. It follows Keras' early adventures, and while it shares the same world and history, this one is a lot lighter in tone than the main series. I couldn't get quite as deep into this one as the other series, but it's still very enjoyable.

Keras’ background & story is something I have eager to learn. However the change in the style & approach often fell flat.

Likes:
a bit more of Keras back story & continent. Further world building.

Dislikes:
The talking sword humor was cheesy turned annoying & juvenile & draining. There could have been a lot more world building & less pathetic triad dialogue with the sword & dragon. Dragon/beastie flirting gross

Super fun. Quick read. And thoroughly enjoyable.

DNF around 70%. Started fun, but after this long, it just doesn't feel like it's going anywhere. Feels like the story back tracks if anything. I think I will stick to the Arcane Ascension series.

Snack food in book form. I never feel fully satisfied but they are enjoyable in small doses when I want something quick and light. The dialogue is still incredibly cringey at times and the format can feel stilted but the world has enough interesting bits to keep me going.
