A truly epic conclusion to the best sports/sci-fi-fiction book I've ever read. It was great to read the end of Quentin's story, as I can't remember the last time I've read about a character growing as much as him. I'm so glad I gave this series a chance. It was a fun, wild ride, and I will try miss the Krakens.

The fifth book chronicling the saga of Quentin Barnes and the Ionath Krakens follows as much action off the field as it does on, delving into intergalactic politics and personal quests. Now that the cast of characters and the world are well established, Sigler has room to include larger stories for other key players and set plots in motion for what lays beyond the end of the season. Only Sigler knows what's in store for the last two books.
As always, love the character and emotion brought to the podcasted audio version voiced by the author.

Damn you, Scott Sigler! That was an amazing ride. And now we have to wait HOW LONG for the next book in the series? And you've said it's a seven book series? How the hell are you going to top what just happened? I had been listening each week to the podcast patiently every Sunday, but after listening to the penultimate episode today, I had to bust out my copy to finish it now. And I am glad I did - no way I could have waited another week to listen to that final chapter.

Listen, folks. You need to read this entire series NOW! There is nothing like it out there. NOTHING! Yes, there are flaws in the writing. But you know what, who cares? When you are reading these books (or listening to the audiobooks, Scott does an amazing job reading his own books and the production quality on the GFL series is just about the best ever), you are completely absorbed in the story. And EVERY book has flaws. The flaws here are so minor that they aren't even worth addressing in detail. And they are completely overshadowed by the fact that all you want to do is know what happens next.

I know I said above that I have no idea how Scott can top this for another two books, but at the same time, I never want the story of Quentin Barnes and his Krakens to end. I want MORE. And all this book did was increase that hunger tenfold.

Sigler knocks it out of the park again. I don't even watch real football anymore but I always look forward to the GFL season!

The sci-fi is great, the characters are funny and awesome, and the story keeps getting better. He's building up to something big so don't miss this latest installment of the GFL series.

If you haven't read the series yet, go get the Rookie and get started!

I really do love these books. Book 5. At first I was not a fan of the foreshadowed political turmoil. But as I read more and more into this series you knew it had happen. As much as I love football there is more to the world (ours and Quentin's) than football.

If you like these book this is a must read. A must must read.

Excellent continuation of the GFL series, moved the larger story forward and gave the characters interesting arcs. Enjoyed the balance between football action and the off field story. Looking forward to volume 6 in the series as it will feature big changes for Quentin and the Krakens.

I have a copy of the hard cover (so pretty with the color insert) but I am listening to the podcast because I love how Scott portrays the characters.

It took me longer to get to listening to the rest of this one that I thought it would. I did enjoy it, and am listening to the Q&A session for this book now. I really don't like that we don't even know what the title is for book #6 yet...patiently waiting...good thing Football Season has started, that will help with the waiting.

Another Great Book in the GFL saga. I liked this one more than The MVP, as it was more about the game and less about the politics - though I fore see book #6 may have much more in the Politics world. I won't spoil who, but there is some sadness in this book -- not completely surprising, but still -

Recently re-listened to it with my husband...we went out together this weekend just so we could finish listening...stupid COVID caused the delay. Still just as good this time around. And we are ready (and waiting patiently) for The Gangster.

I believe this is the greatest of the GFL novels yet. A fast super entertaining read. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series, whenever that may be!
