The world building fell apart almost immediately. If everyone was born looking gray and red eyed and why would the society values way that we look as the norm? Wouldn't they think that being gray and red eyed was the beautiful way to be? It didn't feel like a consistent world.

This book is deliciously thrilling and exquisitely written, but it took me a couple of weeks to read, as I nearly passed out at a couple points and then had a panic attack at the crisis point. Proceed cautiously if you are sensitive to medical descriptions or graphic violence.
