"Horrible" is all I can think of to describe this book. Even the one or two stories that were halfway decent couldn't save this travesty of a collection. Apparently, just thinking about zombies or being dressed up like zombies in the story made it qualify as a zombie tale, and therefore made it eligible for inclusion in this book. I have The Living Dead 2, and here's to hoping that it's better than this (when I can bring myself to read it, that is.)

I was expecting good ol' fashioned zombie stories. But what I got instead was a bunch of overly creative garbage with barely any gore in it. Aside from the first story and a few in the middle, there was very little worthwhile in this collection. Most of the zombies didn't even eat people! One story didn't even contain zombies, but rather, took place on the set of a zombie movie. YAWN. A lot of the zombie stories had the zombies talking and thinking and being very unzombie-like. They seemed to miss the point entirely. Don't buy this book. Pick up "World War Z" by Max Brooks instead.

I really enjoyed all but a few stories in this book. The first story was amazing, probably my favorite. The last story I got bored with and didn't finish! In between were some really great ones.

A few good stories, but mostly not. Disappointing.

Quite a lot of zombie-related stories of all different kinds, some quite thrilling and scary, some even funny, some bittersweet, etc. Well known and less known authors, all offering interesting points of view and possibilities of life with or as zombies.
Recommended if you love the genre.

A few stories I did honestly like. The last two were nice enough for sure, but I few I actively hated, and some other just left me incredibly bored. Was disgusted by a few, annoyed by others, and overall just had a pretty bad time reading this.

I like zombies and I like a good zombie story, but I honestly cannot recommend this compilation.

The first and last stories were great. There's maybe 1 or 2 in the middle that are good, but most of these stories were bombs. Maybe I just go for more literal and less symbolic. The second volume is much better.

Part of my current zombie-phase. Almost finished and only liked the first two stories by Dan Simmons and Kelly Link.
