Being a kid when 9/11 happened this story resonate with the emotions I had. The not understanding at first. Kids seeing the teachers and parents Striken with fear and sadness. This is a fictional story taken from real emotions. This story ends on a decently happy note for what the source material is.

Quick, easy read that gives context to the days before 9/11. Easily packaged for students of a lower reading level without looking like a lower novel. Can be paired well with Towers Falling as a compare and contrast.

All four of the storylines were engaging, and I was invested in each of the four main characters, especially Naheed. Her chapters were the highlights of the book.

I enjoyed the interwoven plot lines of the four main characters in this touching account of their daily lives leading up to September 11, 2001. My current fourth graders can read this as the historical fiction that it is, and perhaps gain insight into some of the ways that the world changed on that fateful day. Some mature themes, but told in a way that is relatable and appropriate for young readers.

Honestly this book could’ve been executed a lot better. The constant changing between people etc just made it so hard to follow and got a little annoying.

4 kids' different lives the two days and morning of 9/11, and what they felt 1 year later. Can you see the change of our culture due to that day?
