A simplistic but nice story showing how a young girl's family celebrates the holiday traditions of both a Christian father and Jewish mother. Good for interfaith families.

This was cute and a fun representation of something that many families experience and do every year.

A sweet look at the blended traditions of a family that celebrates both Hanukkah and Christmas. Recommended for grades Pre-K to 2.

This is a super cute children's book! Although this particular blend of Christmas and Hanukkah isn't the same as mine, I still really appreciate the representation of a multicultural family.

This book is a good combination of Christmas and Hanukkah traditions. I think readers need some background knowledge already about the two holidays, as many elements are combined in the activities the characters are doing.

- short, simple text
- beautiful, bright, large illustrations
- introduces the idea that your family can make its own traditions; you don't have to celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah the way your neighbors/cousins/classmates/etc. celebrate.
- celebrates the concept that family is bound together by love and devotion and not necessarily homogeneity.

This is a wonderful story that encompasses two holidays celebrated in December. Selina Alko does a wonderful job of combining the traditions of both holidays and sharing a story that many families live. This is a great read for the holidays!

This book is cute. I got it out to read to my kiddos and I think another year I would definitely read it to them but this year one girl is having such a hard time not having a Christmas tree to decorate that I'll pass. I want a book that won't inspire her to ask for a tree to decorate with menorahs and dreidels, haha.
