Reading this book was such an odd experience! I was already curious what the story would be about since the second book in the trilogy already seemed to wrap everything up. It took until about halfway through the book to even really get what the point of the it was. But once things started coming together, it was brilliantly done. This book took the story to the far reaches of the universe and I appreciated how boldly the story was told. I definitely am left with a lot to think about after reading this series. I can't help but give the conclusion 5 stars!

An amazing conclusion for a fantastic saga. Cixin Liu builds on top of what we know about the Dark Forest and brings it to the extreme. The end result is a breath-taking piece of sci-fi!

A hard book to rate! On the one hand, the scientific and sociological ideas explored here are so compelling - they truly capture the imagination and feel unlike almost anything else I've read. However, as with the preceding books, the attempts at human characterization are incredibly thin and fail to connect. The author also triples down on the misogyny in this volume, making the weak, tender nature of women a central plot point and directly contrasting it with the power of masculinity in a way that felt entirely unnecessary. In the end, similar to so much sci Fi in that a number of great ideas got wrapped around a truly dumb story.
That said, this was my second reading, and I'm sure I'll read it again! Worth it for the exploration of multidimensionality alone.
