I was really looking forward to having Daisy run amok in America, with her English sensibilities and pride in full display, but this fell a bit flat for me. Fun characters - with some famous faces making an appearance - that really didn't do much of anything memorable. The Dalrymple mysteries often end with no clear whodunit (for good reason, I know) but this one really felt like an anticlimactic poof of Daisy's nose powder. Still fun, but without much satisfaction at the end. I think the lad needs to get back to jolly old England.

Not my favorite Daisy Dalrymple mystery. Daisy is off on her own in New York while Alec is meeting with officials in Washington, D.C. I missed the interaction between Alec and Daisy. The mystery wasn't as compelling and I felt like it was too drawn out. Hoping the next book will be better.

2.5 stars rounded up. This was definitely not one of the better books in the series. The American characters were cartoonish and stereotypical, and the whole scenario was rather unrealistic.
