In the town of Lucille, there are no more monsters. They have been eradicated by angels. But when Jam visits her mother's art studio in the middle of the night, she releases a monster hunter into the world. Neither of Jam's parents believes that there is a monster in Lucille, but Jam does. She and Pet work together to find and expose the monster.

Overall, I think it was a great message...but it was a little out there.

This book has a very mature theme for a children’s book, I assume it’s for more of a teen audience but still, when you have a lot of background knowledge to fill in between the lines, the core of the book can be intense. That being said I think it was a good take that highlighted very important aspects about our society and I will absolutely be reading ‘Bitter’ soon.

Another absolutely fantastic book. I picked this up for the Trans Rights readathon 2024 and I’m so glad I did!! I did call the twist, yet it was still so powerful. This is a quick read, but every page is full of life altering questions and deep profound emotions. I cannot wait to read the prequel bitter.
