What a fun book to read during the holidays! I would recommend reading one a day so that it doesn't become tiresome. Each story is set at Christmas time and involves the Mysterious Bookshop in some fashion. All were written by various established mystery authors who were sought out by the owner of the store, Otto Penzler, for their contributions.

Like any anthology, this had its hits and misses, but overall it was cozy, mysterious-leaning-towards-noir, seasonal, and enjoyable. I read one story a night up through Christmas Eve.

Christmas at the Mysterious Bookshop
17 mystery writers are given a task each Christmas to come up with a very short story surrounding one item-the boostore in NYC.
I liked the stories and some I felt I didn't get the whole thing because they were so short. Going to get other works by the authors and read their longer works as they were interesting to listen to.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Some were good, some were bad. Was more or less just a foray into the genre of mystery for me and I think I'll try and read more mystery books. I just need to find an author I like now.

What a great collection of stories! Each one was enjoyable and many of them made me smile or even laugh. These stories are all so unique and have a festive air that is quite enjoyable. The Mysterious Bookshop really came alive through this novel and is somewhere I'd love to visit. All the stories are so well done and still somehow work well together in the collection.
Spoiler To think all these people would murder in the name of books! It really shows how much people value books and authors, even if it has devastating consequences.
The characters were all great and most of the mysteries were so interesting. All were captivating. A very quick and great read. Recommend this for everyone!

A very fun collection of festive mysteries. As a big fan of this bookstore, I love how the stories all take place there or incorporate the store in some way. This is the perfect holiday read for a mystery lover.

Some stories were good, some I thought silly. It met the reading challenge category of “a book found on a library display”.
