Refreshingly original and multifaceted. Oscar and Lucinda are two captivating individuals with unconventional backgrounds. Peter Carey demonstrates amazing talent by bringing together these misfits via shared compulsions. What follows is a unpredictable sequence of events leading to an unforgettable journey culminating in an unimaginable conclusion. Fabulous read!

Such a satisfying read. Oscar and Lucinda are two of the oddest characters in literature, yet Carey has drawn them so carefully that their quirks do not feel contrived, but rather authentic and touching. I have felt betrayed by the suddenness of Carey's endings in the past, but the twist here was not only jolting but fitting. This book should be every misfit's bible, as embracing one's flaws is exalted and turning from them only brings downfall. We should all be so lucky to be an Odd Bod or his Lucinda and have the chance to gamble on happiness.

This book was alright. It started slow as hell. Some of the language Carey used was great, but I wasn't particularly riveted and the ending wasn't all that satisfying.
