Not my favorite style of art, and a bit hard to follow tbh.

My 9 year old is WAY into mythology these days so I decided to try out the Olympians graphic novel series with him. Zeus: King of the Gods is the first book in this series and tells of the Titans and the creation of the Olympians with a focus on ZEUS.

There was nothing age-inappropriate here. I kept waiting to turn the page and see a scene where Zeus frolicked with a fair mortal...but none of that here! My son liked this book a lot and told me to get the one about Poseidon (his favorite Olympian).

We will definitely be trying out some additional books in this series!

I am really fond of Greek mythology and this book just made me hungry for more of their tales. I would have given it five stars, but there are some tiny bits I couldn't understand, so four it is.

3.5 stars. This title tells the story of Zeus, how he avoided being eaten by his father and came to rule Olympus. This is a fantastic way to learn about mythology, even though as I was reading to them, Warren (12, 7th grade), asked "I learned about all this stuff in last year's history class!" Well, maybe he knew all about this, but whatever I knew I had forgotten, and Trevor (10) was similarly ignorant.

The artwork is fine, though it isn't particularly my favorite style, it suits the story. The title boasts plenty of back matter, even though my kids weren't interested: an Author's Note, Greek Notes (explaining references to specific panels), bios of the gods, discussion questions, a bibliography, and recommendations for further reading. Lots of cool stuff!

Whether in the classroom or at home, Zeus: King of the Gods entertains as it teaches. I don't anticipate reading it again, but I'm glad we did one time through.

A great beginning to a series of graphic novels about the Olympians. the illustrations are a perfect match for the text and some great additional information at the endl.

This gives me hope for the rest of the series. Had not heard this version of the myth. Story was told beautifully and the artisy in the panel design and layout is beautiful.

Images aren't too creepy but still dark and good version of the story.
