It was nice to read about a character that I can relate to in many aspects. Even if I'm not of Julia's age, I could still see the similarities in our lives as mexican-american people.

I think this is a wonderful book that should be required reading in high schools across the world.
It’s raw, it’s beautifully written, and above all it is real. Nothing is glossed over and it makes for a very emotional and compelling read.
Highly Recommend but please do your research on potential content warnings before deciding to read it!!

This is without a single down one of the best books I have ever read (and I've read hundreds of books.) It was amazing. I was expecting one things and I got something completely different. It was perfect. Absolutely perfect. Everyone NEEDS to read this book. It's an absolute must.

I think it was authentic in how some teenagers feel and act. Her unwillingness to yield to her families ideas were familiar to me. Her mother having a hard life and guilt tripping her was something I related to.

I did find her constant complaining annoying even though I am sure I was the same way at that age. Maybe that's why I found it almost unbearable.

Read for book club at school.
