OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!! So much grief, this book really tugged at my heart strings.

Jared is Aleena's older brother's best friend, but he was also her friend. The three got along well, but everything changes when tragedy strikes. Now Jared is distant and doesn't come around anymore.

Although this book is mostly present, we get little glimpses at their life before and during tragedy. This book was really hard to read and you could really feel Jared's guilt and him desperately trying to run away from that. In which he turns to drugs to drown out the noise - LITERALLY FUCKED ME UP!!!

Jared ends up going to treatment and when he gets out, his first instinct is to find Aleena and his best friend. Here, he crashes on their couch until he can get his footing back. But the pull between him and Aleena is so strong and he just wants to be near her. However, when things get challenging, she is a trigger for him and has the potential to send him in a downward spiral. This is even more prevalent because he believes everything he touches he ruins and he does not want to ruin her.
But like... by him doing this constant back and forth he is.

Anyways, I was really rooting for Jared and him to heel and know he is deserving of love.

My daddy issues go strong with the "I can fix him" and baby, I loved this book!! 5 stars, amazing!!

If I ever made a list of books that I was confused about when it came to rating them, this one would definitely be in the top 10.

It's just, I'm had such a hard time wondering about what I was going to write in the review. I'm still not a 100% sure. But I have a feeling that this is as sure as I'm gonna get so...

Now, instead of listing things I liked and disliked, I'm going to write all things that contributed to my confusion regarding the rating of this book. Here goes:

1. I liked Aly. It happens so little when, instead of the guy chasing the girl, the girl works for it, for a relationship or simply for the guy because she wants to help him. And since that happened in this book and since Aly was the one who fought and who was strong, I like her. I wish she'd done things a little differently in the end
Spoiler(let him go and made him fight for her as well)
but other than that she was good.

2. Jared is a complicated character. I can't say I didn't like him but I also can't say that I did. I just hope that he's okay and happy in the end. But speaking of Jared, his POV wasn't that great. I felt like the author used a large amount of swearing so it would sound more male.

3. Another thing about the writing is the repetitiveness. I'm aware that words and phrases like "take" or "I don't get to have this", etc. were used repeatedly in purpose to emphasise them, but they still became too much and annoyed me.

4. The book was a bit too dramatic. I can't say I have much experience in the fictional kind of love and heartbreak, but at a certain point, it can become exaggerated even for fiction, just like it did here. And the way some of the descriptions given, of both emotions and sceneries, bordered on absurdity.

5. I was afraid that Jared story, the reason he was so "broken" wouldn't live up to what it was hyped up to be. Thankfully, I was wrong. Though the fact that we got the whole story so much later in the book didn't work very well.

6. The relationship between Aly and Jared wasn't entirely healthy. But I still have hope that that might change.

7. Some of the flashbacks were unnecessary. Most were fine, but one or two weren't.

8. The ending felt like a cop-out. I can't say exactly what it was because I don't wanna give spoilers but Jared eye opening moments didn't make much sense (it didn't fit with the rest of the story), came off as convenient and half-assed.

9. The pronoun game was stipid. The constant italicized "her" became so common that I moved from becoming irritated to just rolling my eyes. Besides, irritaion didn't work since by the time I got over one, anothe popped up. There was also the "the girl" or "this girl" when talking about Aly. *tired sigh*

10. Finally, the cliche
Spoiler(the pregnancy)
. Why was that there? I mean, it was completely unnecessary. It could have easily been left out but no, there just had to be that huge ass cliche there.

So I think I coved everything that I wanted to. And I hope this tells that while I did care about the characters and wanted to like the book more, there were a lot of things that didn't work.

I might pick up the next book since I already have the ebook but I'll probably only skim through to see what happens so I doubt there will be a review up.

I don't think this review will be much help in wanting you to figure out if you wanna read the book but I hope it's helps just a little.

My Thougths:

I am so happy with myself that I picked up this book. Come to Me Quietly is a dark, gritty, messed up boy with a dark past and only one certain girl can save him, kind of book. And I love those kinds of books! Yeah, that theme has been played with, but I think that this book had a very nice feel to it and a uniqueness that made it a bit different.

A. L. Jackson has a really beautiful writing style. To me, it felt like poetry at times, the way the words and actions of the characters flowed and moved throughout the story. I loved that. And I think it was not only the really gritty, raw story line, but the characters that had me so glued to the pages.

Aleena felt different to me from most heroines. She’s a strong character, but she felt real in her strength. When Jared comes back into her life, she knows of his darkness and she wants to help him. And her strength came in the form of her knowing she couldn’t erase his past, but accepting him, all of him. Dark past and all. I think that’s what I loved about her, she accepts people, flaunts and all.

And I was really taken by Jared Holt. Yes, he has that dark, sexy, hotness about him that I love in my male characters. And though he came off as a bit of an ass, especially to Aleena in the beginning, this boy has a big heart. I could see it peeking around the rough edges of him. That’s what made me instantly connect with him and love him.

The relationship between Jared and Aleena is a complicated one; childhood friends with a deep past. I loved that. I usually don’t do that whole best friends turn lovers thing, but this one was so well written and felt real and natural. Their attraction and relationship developed nicely and it felt real. I could feel how both Jared and Aleena cared for each other and I could see/feel it growing. It felt like their souls connected when reading it. And I can't forget the steamy factor. These two are a really steamy couple!

The twist, Jared’s past, was so much fun, well, intense to read about! I honestly couldn’t really figure out what happened to him! And I loved that it took me awhile to figure it out! And his past really broke my heart! It really explains so much about him and why his is the way he is. Why he hurts and why he punishes himself. That made me sympathize with his character even more!

The building of the plot and the relationship of this story was well written. It built slowly but did not drag. The writing style pulled me in. The characters felt real, along with their personalities and actions. I became so attached to them. And I cannot wait to see them grow even more in the next book!

Come to Me Quietly was just such a beautiful story! It tore my heart up and yet made me smile! It was dark, gritty, intense, and wonderful! I definitely recommend this one to New Adult lovers who love a story about deep love, dark pasts, and finding understanding, all wrapped up in a dark package.

Come to me Quietly was such a dark, amazing, wonderful romance that I truly enjoyed. It followss our main character Aleena who's currently a college student and has a normal life; two loving parents and two brothers. One night her brother Christopher runs into his childhood best friend Jared and he invits him to stay with him and Aly at their apartment. Jared had the same life as Aly and Christopher up until his life changed when he was sixteen. After that he's been haunted with his memories of the past. Due to that Christopher lost his best friend and Aly lost her first crush.
Now with Jared's return he sees tha Aly isn't the same little girl that he would play with when they were younger. She has instead grown up to be this very beautiful girl. Oh course he, just like Aly, has feels for her but he believes it's best to stay away since he feels unworthy of himself.
While younger Jared and Aly have this very sweet and caring relationship that now has turned into something more. I truly enjoyed reading their story and finding out the reveal as to what happened to Jared that caused she a riot in his life. I liked that their relationship was rushed like others I've read. They decided to start of as friends and of course it grows from there. It seemed to me that as their relationship was growing, it was also all leading up to the climax. This great reveal where everything comes out and all hell breaks loose.
I truly enjoyed reading this story, as I loved so many aspects of it. Mainly our two main characters of course. The author did a great job at connecting the reader to the characters which brings out all of the emotional feels. I was not disappointed with this story.
I won this arc through goodreads first reads.
